WiMax vs. WiFi

Ok, ok. I admit it: I'm a computer neophyte. I have barely mastered the keyboard, but I still pretend that I know more than I do.

Thus, I am turning to my resident techonologists to ask:

What do you know about this WiMax technology? Is it everything this article seems to suggest? Is it going to crush Earthlink's Wireless Philly/SanFran/Anaheim/etc. and all other municipal Wi-Fi projects? Or will something better come along to replace it before it gets started (the residential broadband problem)?

Just curious.

One of the better ideas I've read lately is this:

-An attempt to counter the argument that Islam is evil, and that no one is Muslim but evil people.

If you don't believe that such an argument has ever been made, you should have heard the post-9/11 'Bible Study' done by my mother's church. Select verses from the Koran were held up as evidence that Fundamentalist Muslims (like Fundamentalist Christians) are seeking their religion at its purest form, and in them the true nature of the religion shows itself. The teacher then told everyone that all Fundamentalist Muslims show only violence, but all Fundamentalist Christians show only love. Hah!

That's Our Story!

I spent the weekend at the "Rockin' C Ranch," a camp oustide Tyler, Texas.  I was there "by invitation" of the First Presbyterian Church of Tyler, helping lead their "Back To School Retreat" for 6-12th grades.

Their interim youth director has become a friend of mine, and she invited me to come help out.  I ended up doing the music and "keynote" talks (I put "keynote" in quotes because it sounds so egotistical and much more self-important than my job really was....I led 4 interactive bible studies that each "set up" a small group discussion that was led by a group of their youth sponsors in age/gender segregated small groups.)
