Sens. Hutchison and Cornyn Pass Senate Resolution Honoring Spurs’ NBA Championship
It's not that I mind so much that we honor our sports teams. But do we have to do so with an $8 trillion debt? Is this the best use of our government's time and energy (and, therefore, money)?

It makes me sick to think that I get paid alot less, for alot more.

Truth be told, I'm inclined to not really sweat this. The amount of time/energy/money involved in this is likely almost nil.
All that the two headed Republican demon had to do was likely add their signatures to the commendation that some unpaid intern wrote.
Not a big deal.
Not a significant waste of time and/or money.
Gay marriage amendment? Now that's a waste of time and money.

True, true.
Except that's not all that happened.
A resolution, even by unanimous consent, like this one was, must be introduced and voted on.
And here is the record of said events:
Congratulating the San Antonio Spurs.
Now, all told, this likely took only five minutes. And the unpaid intern probably did most of the drafting work, which added another ten. But I bet the Spurs feel like better people now that the Senators have passed a national resolution about them. They can add that to their million dollar mansions, and tricked out SUVs, and diamond studded rings.

This can quickly become quite time consuming. Do we pass a referendum each year for the team that wins? What about baseball, football, and hockey? Isn't soccer becoming more popular now? What about college ball? Does each bowl winner deserve to be a part of the congressional register? I saw a "Rock-Paper-Scissors" championship on ESPN the other day (don't make fun of me just because I watched it). That certainly deserves a referendum. Wasn't the 6 time hot dog eating champion recently unseated? Call the president... that deserves a medal and a state dinner.
